I made a few changes to the site:

- Changed the domain of the site to obsidianls.com instead of the old obsidianodin.com; this will cause you to having to reenter your login information. If you go to http://www.obsidianodin.com, it will automatically point you to the new URL.

- Upgraded the forum software. I'm still working on the stylesheet, so it looks a bit white right now :p

Automatic job updating

Just a reminder to the newer members how to enable automatic profile updating:

1) Have the Obsidian pearl in your main inventory when logging out.
2) Once SE updates its database you can go to the LS community at http://fanzone.playonline.com/lscom/index.do (verify the url in the address bar!)
3) click Log In
4) click Establish/Join Community
5) Enter login info (once again, be sure you are on the fanzone.playonline.com site!)
6) Select your character
7) It should show a list of linkshells you can join. Obsidian should be listed here; if it's not, then you either did not carry the pearl in your inventory last time you logged out, or SE has not updated its database yet.
8) If it's there, then select it, join, confirm the information until you are signed up.
9) During the night (NA time) the Obsidian website will import your job information.

Note that you do not need to make your information public to do this. You just need to sign up to the community and have your information visible to linkshell members.

Also, I made some changes so that job levels will only be updated if the ones currently on your profile are of a lower level. That should help those people with multiple characters' jobs on their account.

Thank you to everyone who has made this shell continue to be what it is throughout the years. Some of you have been here since day one and others haven't been here more than a day, but we all contribute something each time we get together.

We will be celebrating our anniversary all week this week by giving away an anniversary gift to all active members who attend the scheduled runs. We're also giving away a few prizes at the conclusion of the Sunday run, so pack the upcoming Glacier and get ready for some /random fun.

Dancer & Scholar Relic added

Dancer and Scholar Relic, Relic-1, Relic+1 and accessories have now been added. Drop locations will be added as more information becomes available. Until then leaders will handle bids for DNC/SCH drops in cities.

Note that if it is confirmed that an item does not drop in a zone and you have placed a bid on it, that bid will be removed as well.

Signups pt 1

Due to higher numbers signing up and wait lists starting to happen, please have your linkpearl on at least 20 minutes prior to a run starting. If you have not notified a sack that you won't be able to make it until right at start time, your spot will be given away to someone on the waiting list.

The reason for the 20 minute time limit is so we can have people on the waiting list potentially change to other jobs that we're missing w/o starting late.

Also, the reason there is a "pt 1" in the title is there will be more announcements concerning signups in the near future. This is a facet of our linkshell we're currently focused on cleaning up.

Currently, this announcement applies to Einherjar only. Further information regarding Dynamis and additional changes will be announced in the near future.

November 5th

Due to Demand, we have COMPLETELY changed what is going on November 5th.
Everyone who was signed up for Tav at 7:30 is unchanged. Everyone who is on the waiting list for Tav at 7:30 has been automatically signed up for the Tav run now occurring at 5. The Jeuno run WILL BE CANCELED. We have left the people signed up for it. They are EXPECTED to pick which tav run they want. We left them, as that was the run that you weren't guaranteed to have Tav access.

I need ALL members attending a run NOVEMBER 5TH to confirm they are on the run they would like to be on. Also, Since Jeuno will be cancelled, I would appreciate all members unsigning from that run. Then I can close it.

To repeat: ALL MEMBERS CONFIRM WHERE YOU ARE FOR NOVEMBER 5TH.

If you make an agreement with a specific individual to trade spots, talk to a leader, and we'll see if we have a decent way of handling it.

Non-NA DST ending

The new BLU, COR and PUP relic pieces have been added to the database. Most of the drop locations are complete, but a few are incomplete and will therefore not show up yet on the bid lists for unconfirmed drop locations.

Until those missing drop locations are confirmed, leaders will take care of bidding on those items 30 minutes before the run starts. If you wish to participate, be sure to have the linkshell pearl equipped at that time.

By a vote of 36-12-10 currently, Obsidian has decided to give Einherjar a go. While dates/times and various other elements have yet to be determined, the vast majority of the details will be hammered out within the next few days.

Look for more news here and in the forums within the coming days as the sacks prepare the shell.

Again, I want to emphasize that those of you choosing not to participate in Einherjar with Obsidian will not be penalized in any way, shape or form. I completely respect the fact that committments to Einherjar with other groups existed prior to the decision to implement it on our own and will not alter the dynamics of our systems to put people only wanting to do dynamis at a disadvantage to those choosing to do both.

Site down due to datacenter explosion

As most of you probably already noticed, the website was down most of the weekend. This was due to an explosion in the datacenter where my server is hosted. Most of the machines were undamaged but it took over a day to get the infrastructure back up. Everything seems to be okay now though.

The attendance and points for yesterday's Windurst run have been updated. People that were unable to sign out did not have points deducted.

May 21st - Run Cancelled

Due to low attendance numbers, and seemingly everything possible trying to prevent all the leaders from attending, we are CANCELLING the Qufim run today. I would ask all people signed up for Qufim attend the Jeuno run instead. Only the people who attend the Jeuno run will receive points.
Bidding for Jeuno will be done on site, at 7pm EST sharp!
Sorry for the change, but if you don't want this sort of thing happening, push your friends in Obsidian to start attending.

Runs starting at different times due to DST

For all our non-US members, the runs will start an hour earlier than normal until March 30. This is due to the fact that the US has already switched to Daylight Savings Time, but the rest of the world won't do so until the 30th. Since our runs are primarily based on the US timezone, nothing will change for the US members.

Note that if you are logged in and picked your local timezone in your profile, the runtimes as shown on the RAIDS page will be correct for your local timezone (i.e. EU members will see 18:00 instead of 19:00, but NA members will still see 1:00 pm).

Per our existing rules, we do not allow our members to go to Dynamis with any other LS, regardless of whether or not they're private runs. Any members found attending Dynamis with another LS will be permanently removed from Obsidian.

Relic Coins

I will not likely be on the run on Sunday, so Coins being sold to relic upgraders will happen on Sunday Jan 13th. That gives all you upgraders another week to farm and earn a couple more points to spend.

Reminder to qualify you need 4 points per coin you want, and to be on at least stage 2 of the relic upgrade. Send me a message or a tell if you aren't sure if you are on the list of people I contact, and wish to be on that list.

2000th Obsidian AF2 obtained.

Congrats to Whitemist for collecting this historic relic. Even moreso, congrats to each and every Obsidian member for helping implement the changes the sackholders made in October of 2006. On Sept 24th, 2006, our 1000th piece of AF2 was obtained after 21 months of existence. Since then, thanks in large part to the changes made, we've collected another 1000 pieces of AF2 for member in just over 15 months.

Here's to picking up another 1000 AF2 in an even shorter time period. Congrats again to all 2000 winners of Obsidian AF2. :)

Relic Upgraders

I'm intending to do the bank coins to relic upgraders on Sunday after the run. If you can not make that time, send me a private message on the forums, or talk to me in game. Let me know what type of coins your looking for, and what you are willing to spend in gil, and in points.

To remind people what is needed to qualify as an upgrader, you need to get to stage 2 on your own, and be actively working towards a relic weapon. We also charge 4 point per 100 peice bought through this means. Fire me a message if you have any further questions.

Daylight Savings Time ending

Please note that in the next two weeks or so, countries using Daylight Savings Time will revert back to normal time. However, because North America will do so one week later than the rest of the world (and our runtimes are based on NA times), this means that on sunday the 28th and wednesday the 31st, the run will start an hour earlier for everyone living outside of North America.

The runtimes as listed on the RAIDS page already reflect any DST changes for your timezone on the date of a particular run, so if you are European and check the RAIDS page right now, you'll see that the two runs next week are shown an hour earlier than normal. North Americans will see the same time as usual.

Profile auto-updating

If you're a registered member of the Obsidian LS Community at PlayOnline, you can choose in your settings for this site to have your job and craft levels automatically updated on a daily basis. This will also show your current job, allegiance, rank and title on your profile.

Note that for this to work you need to have your LS Community profile for Obsidian set to allow LS members to view your information. Also be aware that it may take up to a day after registering at the LS Community, before the auto-update feature becomes selectable in your settings.

So after I forgot to pick up the glass this morning for the run, I had Cdgreg run out to pick it up for us. I think after today, he's officially the only person allowed to get a glass for CoP runs.

This was just a sample of the drops we were treated to. In addition to what's pictured, Cdgreg received BLM Hat -1, Missy received BST hat -1, Kalakalo received DRG hat -1, Airybreeze received another BLM Belt, Ceal received BST belt, Rudithina received WAR belt, and Millenas received SMN pants.

Great job all around and it's about time these &E$@#*)$&#*@()&$(@#) CoP zones did something nice for a change. :D

Bidding System Adjustment.

We have implemented a slight change to the bidding system effective today. As of now, no new bids will be allowed starting at 90 minutes before bids close. If you have an interest in an item, bid on it before then even if it's just a bid of 4.

This is done to combat members signing up the minute signups open then not placing a bid until 6 minutes before bid closing. We want members to be responsible with their bids and avoid the shady practices we've seen from time to time.

Since we have a number of members that cannot access the website while playing Final Fantasy XI, there's an option in your settings that will allow you to notify us that you cannot. Note that the earlier system selection box (which was kinda pointless) has been removed.

Also, attendance percentages should be more accurate now (EU runs don't count as missed runs anymore if you did attend the NA run), although I still can't take into account any runs that were missed due to lacking zone access.

Qualifying for Relic-1 bidding

30+ days Inactivity Status

I'd like to remind members that after not attending a run for 30 days you will be set to inactive. This means you will have to talk to a sackholder to get your account reactivated. This is just a measure to keep our active member list up-to-date.

However, 60 days of inactivity or more will lead to a point wipe. If you wish to avoid this, please talk to a sackholder beforehand to explain that you're going to be unable to attend for some time.

90 days of inactivity will lead you to be permanently considered a "Former Member," and if you wish to return at this point, your points will be reset. The sackholders will also have to discuss first if you can be readmitted.

Doing runs outside of Obsidian

Just telling a leader is not enough, if (s)he did not approve and you are caught in another LS's Dynamis run, you will be banned.

After almost 11 months, another Duelist's Chapeau finally dropped again!

However, that was not all! When we returned to the RDM tower for more farming, the impossible happened!

Unfortunately we only got 1 AF during the whole run. The overall pretty perfect performance should have gotten us more.

We also tried a shot at the Animated Spear for fun at the 5min mark, but he warped at 18% without any 2h used.

New Wednesday Start Time

A reminder to all members.

We now auction off the 100 pieces starting on the first and third sunday of every month, as mentioned in the rule changes. I put a bunch up on Sunday, and this will be the last anyone reminds the members of it.

There's currently a few pieces up, and they are not being bid on very quick. I hope this is due to no one wanting them, and not misinformation.

I will NOT be making a post like this everytime I list currencies, so if you are interested in them it is your responsibility to pay attention to them. I will be in the habit of adding the auctions just after the Sunday Run, and they will close at the start time of the following Sunday run.

Rules updated & inactivity/points reset

The rules page has been updated to reflect the recent changes. If you haven't been reading the forums, be sure to see what's new.

With these changes comes the stricter response to member inactivity. If you have been gone for over 30 days, your account will be deactivated. 60 days of inactivity will result in a wipe of your points, and after 90 days you will have to go through the application interview again to be able to come back.

If you have a legitimate reason for being unable to attend for a while (see rules), always inform a sackholder so your points do not get wiped.

Due to the transitional period, anyone that has currently been gone/missing between 30-90 days will not have their points wiped (yet) if they inform a sackholder why they've been unable to attend and show up to runs again before the period ends.

Return of EU Runs

Now, that doesn't mean someone couldn't go get another glass, but I think it's indicative of the fact that we would be facing low numbers of people who are able to log in at a reasonable time.

Storable Relic Sets

With the update today the option was added to store full relic sets (5/5) at the armor storage NPCs. This led to the question of whether or not people can obtain a second piece of the same relic to fill up the hole left by upgrading a piece to a +1 (i.e. upgrading RDM relic hat to relic+1, and then acquiring another RDM relic hat to be able to store the set on an NPC).

Due to the rarity of relic pieces (as opposed to requestable regular AF), we will not allow people that have upgraded to +1 to bid on the regular piece again. There is enough competition as is without having some people trying to obtain the same piece twice.

The only exception to this is if a piece is about to go into autodistribute due to nobody bidding on it (including open bids).

Obsidian's 1st Completed Relic - Excalibur

Daylight Savings Time ending

We are aware that DST ended this weekend (for most countries anyway), but this will not influence when the run starts, since pretty much all members had to turn back their clock one hour. Also, the site adjusts the times automatically according to whether or not DST is active, so as long as you selected your correct location/timezone in your settings, the times as presented in the run info will always be correct.

October 18 runs (maintenance)

Because of the maintenance and update today, we expect the runs to be delayed. We aren't sure how long the delay will be, but we will try to make it as close to on-time as our numbers and the server allow.

Please note that if we do not have 18 people for Tavnazia, that run will be canceled. If Tavnazia is canceled, those that showed up for it are welcome to join the Jeuno run to earn their 2 points. We have plenty of room there.

Also, as a one time only deal, because of the circumstances and the distinct possbility that people will have issues logging in, we won't be deducting a point for no shows for tonight's runs only.

Rules & Site Changes

As stated in the Announcements forum, the rules have been updated to counter some of the seedier practices that have arisen lately.

Also, please note that for every run the bidleaders, partymakers and pullers will be stated on the respective raid pages as soon as they are known, so if you have any issues with a specific run, contact the leaders associated with that run first. Doing this, rather than contacting a random leader, will ensure that your issues will be resolved faster.

Any issues such as drops obtained outside of Obsidian, lost passwords, or account reactivations, can be handled by any of the sackholders.

EU runs

Since on wednesdays we now have both EU and NA runs, be sure to check the time of a run before signing up, so you don't accidentally sign up for the wrong run! You will still get the -1 point penalty if you sign up for the wrong run and don't show up.

New Features

Waiting lists are now available for runs that are full. Sign up as normal and you can reserve a spot for that run if someone unsigns. Empty spots are assigned to waiting people in order of signups, so first come, first serve.

You can change your job now without unsigning first. Just scroll down to the signup area of the raid page, pick one of your jobs and press the "Change" button.

You are no longer allowed to place bids of equal value as someone else. The only exception is if both the original bidder and the new bidder have selected the "Allow equal bids" checkbox, meaning they don't mind lotting with the other person for the same amount of points.

Job-levels

We've become aware that some people are faking to have certain job levels in order to obtain AF2. We ask that you fill in your job levels truthfully, and if possible register on the linkshell community on POL (so we can check your levels ourselves if need be).

Our rules clearly state that your non-main job needs to be level 70 before you have the right to bid on AF, and pretending to be 70+ in that job, while showing up as another job to hide being lower level, is a clear violation of our rules. Not to mention extremely rude towards the hardworking members that DO have the right to bid on the items.

This is going to be our ONLY warning on this subject. If we catch anyone faking their job level to bid on AF (pretending to be 68+), he/she will be suspended for 2 weeks (and points will be reset to 0 if AF was obtained because of it). If you're caught a second time, you will be permanently kicked from Obsidian.

We hate having to take drastic measures like this against our own members, but cheating like this is abusing the system and ruins the fun for our other members.

Bid closing time changed

A few more (requested) changes to the bidding system

Bidding is still set to close 2 hours before the run starts, however, items that are bid on within the last 5 minutes or thereafter will cause extra minutes to be added to the timer for that item. The people that have already bid on that item will be able to increase their bids for that item if desired during this period, but outsiders cannot add a new bid (ninja snipe!).

Any items that were not sniped will have their bidding closed at the usual time. This is to prevent that people sniping one item, accidentally allow someone else to bid on a totally different item.

As soon as the regular bidding timer hits 0, individual counters will appear for each item separately once you reload the page. Note that you need to refresh the page manually to see if anyone else increased his bid and the timer as well.

If you find any bugs, please let me know as soon as possible as I'll be going on vacation later next week XD

Bidding System Changes READ CAREFULLY!

All of these changes are made in an effort to curb the amount of time we spend before a run on bidding. These are not major changes, however, we will *probably* not reopen bidding on items onsite unless they are some extreme circumstances. Items that are not bid on before the closing time will be open bid prior to that specific run.

1. The bidding page is now cleaned up. You will not see multiple bids by one person on one item.

2. You can no longer bid more than your points total on multiple items. Not that we had a huge problem with this before, it was just a pain in the ass to keep everyone's total points handy when they wanted to bid on 2 different coins and a piece of AF during one run.

3. In an effort to prevent bid sniping, Gawayne has programmed the bidding page to extend the closing time 5 minutes for bids placed within close proximity of the actual closing time. To provide the room for 5 minute extensions, bidding closes 2 hours before the run starts.

4. There is a feature now for members to place bids for other members in case of a real life situation that prevents them from keeping an eye on the website.

New Site up and running & PASSWORDS RESET!

We finally opened up the new site after long weeks of programming and testing ^^; Because of some trouble converting the passwords from the old site to the new site, all the passwords have been reset to a default password. Please contact me or another sackholder to have your password changed to something of your choice. You can change it after logging in by going to the Settings page.

Instead of entering your username and password every time you sign up or place a bid, login using the option to the top right. This will keep you logged in and provide you with several other features, like editing your profile and displaying all times and dates on the site in your local timezone. You can also access the items, strategies and statistics pages this way.

BE SURE to log in and check your Settings page to fill in your jobs and the zones that you cleared, as this will determine what areas you can sign up for and what items you can bid on.

For any bugs and errors, either contact me ingame or send me an email (see the contact page).
